The key which we call “Backspace or DEL” in this manual is labeled differently on different keyboards. Look for a key which is a little ways above the <ENTER> or <RET> key and which you normally use outside XEmacs to erase the character before the cursor, i.e. the character you typed last. It might be labeled ‘Backspace’ or ‘<-’ or ‘DEL’, or sometimes ‘Delete’.
If you put in a ‘^L’ to end a new node, be sure that there is a ‘^_’ after it to start the next one, since ‘^L’ cannot start a node. Also, a nicer way to make a node boundary be a page boundary as well is to put a ‘^L’ right after the ‘^_’.
