3. Controlling tempo behaviour

There are some options available for the end user of tempo templates.

User Option: tempo-interactive
Controls whether templates should prompt the user for strings to insert via the minibuffer or let the user edit them in place. This affects the behaviour of the template elements (p ...) and (r ...).

User Option: tempo-insert-region
Controls the behaviour of the r, r> and (r ...) tags. If this variable is nil, r elements will be treated just like p elements, unless the template command is given a prefix (or a non-nil argument), in which case the template will be inserted around the region. See section 2.2 Template elements, for further information. If this variable is non-nil, the behaviour is reversed.

In Transient Mark mode, this option is unused.
